Full-time Sports RDs working with USA's top institutions
There are 64,400 Registered Dietitians employed in some capacity throughout the U.S. in schools, hospitals, clinics and other types of institutions, and another 12,700 new RD positions expected to be added by 2020. But the number of more specialized "Sports RDs"--those full-time professionals working day-to-day with athletes in structured athletic programs--are few in number. What follows is an evolving list of Sports RDs on the job 40 or more hours per week in the major college conferences, with professional sports teams, and within the U.S. military. The ranks of Sports is growing steadily, but slowly, due in no small part to the time and training required to meet high expectations in the highly competitive athletic or military workplace.
